If you get a lot of viewings but they don't read the whole thing--it actually hurts your pay, because percentage of people who actually read your article is part of the pay equation. That's why you are not helping people if you clap without reading for instance. . You might have gotten people clicking cause of the title, especially from search engines and such, but not reading when they see what the article is.
