Raising a good question. Are you proposing that the Republican voters don't actually have the values they just voted for? For example, anti-immigrant, pro-authoritarian, kind of racist, et cetera? I think it's possible that those ARE there values. With regard to the democratic voters, they are so outgunned propaganda wise that the only value they seemed to have really shared was not-trump. Sure, they were pro-"reproductive health" (I love that spin!). They were pro-immigrant. But their larger "values" remain obscure to me. We don't hear anything about values that would be traditionally left wing: more welfare state. More universal health care. More gun control. These no longer seem to be in the Overton window that the reader above referenced. That is, they are deemed too extreme to even merit discussion. Socialism itself seems to have been dying a slow death since 89. We are left with a weird world--free enterprise capitalism on the right and what the fuck on the left.
