Well, living in Los Angeles I have witnessed and heard plenty of how appallingly mean agents, producers and executives are to their underlings. Like, I"m sure there is no other industry where this kind of demeaning berating and so on is tolerated. There is a sense here that the underlings have to just pay their dues and take it. Seriously it in a way is worse than the Me Too Shit. Sadism pure and simple. Ellen is maybe a part of it. And maybe Hollywood people do need to treat their staff with dignity like other businesses.
On the other hand, who knows, right? I will tell you there have been males out here who have been railroaded out of their high position after their mean-ness has been outed. I'm thinking of this guy who used to do all the Nickelodeon shows and it came out that he was a tyrant. There is another show runner, male, who was just canned for being a meanie. So I am all for this culture of outing the meanies, but the flip side of this coin is that who's to say whether these "reports" are true or if someone is being railroaded.
