Well said — white men do objectify Asian women. But I think that is because they are so slim and look so good in their clothes, not like their wives whose clothes hang on them like bubble wrap. Granted, not all Asian women are slim any more — thanks, McDonalds.
I want to point out one thing though that might alleviate some pain — in my experience growing up white in America, none of us considered ourselves “American” . We were all either Irish, Italian, or German, or Polish “extraction” and my friends were Mexican or Salvadoran or Guatemalan, or of course African, and then a lot were Korean or Chinese.
Most though, were Wasp. Anglo Saxon Protestant which of course basically means British/German.
If you look at that word Wasp, it doesn’t have “American” in it, although it is perhaps the most “American” ethnicity, given the pilgrims were wasps. I have seen so many Asians be hurt about not being perceived as American. However, when it comes to identity, white people really, really, really consider themselves immigrants of one sort or another. So do Latinos. So do blacks (unwilling immigrants of course).
The only Americans are the Indigenous peoples and even they are actually Siberians. In a way, you calling yourself “American” might be — and it’s a big might, I’m not sure — offensive to Native Americans.
I don’t say this to be argumentative. In fact, if anybody ever posts an argumentative response to my stories I immediately block them. I don’t need criticism, and I don’t like criticism. I am telling you this because I think clinging to an “American” identity that doesn’t exist might be causing you unnecessary pain.
Of course, that’s absolutely your choice and your right if that’s what you want to be — American. And I can see my own white privilege at work here — we whites have the option of being “American” or “Not.” Other people don’t have that option. But nobody I have ever known has wanted to be American — we all want to be Irish — especially now that it’s March 🍀.
However, if you want to be Portuguese, Irish and Chinese, I get that it’s a lot of words to tell people. Maybe you need a snappy acronym. I have made one up for you. PIRCH. I know, that sounds fishy. Scrap that. How about Chipper? I like that better. Anyhow, you look very beautiful I love the way you blow bubbles. And your story about being a sugar baby to a married couple is fascinating and kind of sexy. Did you just kiss them, nothing more? You don’t have to say, but in my fantasy you did more.😄
